The Software Development Manager will provide visionary leadership to enable our client to mature their operating model and deepen their commitment to Agile/Dev Ops and Continuous delivery.
*Provide leadership and support on relevant disciplines in the department.
*Lead, motivate and manage the team. Manage performance of the team by setting SMART objectives and regularly review progress through one to ones.
*In leading the team, actively manage absence or any conduct issues within the team in line with Company procedures.
*Identify skills requirements and acknowledge bottlenecks across team and manage resolution and development.
*Ensure career and development objectives of staff are being met within the context of departmental objectives.
*Identify formal training requirements for the Development team.
*Identify candidates for technical, product and industry expertise and manage their development.
*Provide guidance to the development team(s) and work closely with them to ensure successful delivery of projects.
*Drive the software development function in a modern and progressive manner utilising the latest approaches in the delivery of software solutions
*Innovate. Software development approaches are constantly evolving and must be capable of embracing change & new ways of working seeing change as an opportunity to constantly push and challenge the status quo
*Provide resource as required to support pre and post sales activities.
*Manage the allocation of work in accordance with business priorities and service level agreements for the client, ensuring team members are utilised efficiently.
*Cascade departmental objectives to respective teams via the Individual Performance Objective (IPO) process.
*Meet regularly with team(s) to review estimated effort to ensure progress according to plan.
*Guide the Development team in the production of estimates for solutions and delivery against those estimates.
*Maintain and manage forecast estimates against actual effort.
*Manage relevant financial aspects, including costs, within the Development team in accordance with agreed budget and financial KPIs.
*Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of activity diaries.
*Manage a large group of developers to achieve targeted levels of utilisation and ensures that people & teams are focussed on the areas that deliver optimum value
Required knowledge and experience:
*Experience working with Agile development methodology
*Involvement in change management processes and leading people through change
*Strong relevant technical skills and experience.
*Extensive experience of leading and managing technical resources.
*Experience of managing demanding resource schedules.
*Significant experience of delivering solutions within financial services sector.
*Demonstrable experience of managing processes and quality within a software delivery arena.
*Experience of producing detailed & realistic estimates for delivery activities.
*Experience of producing and managing individual development plans.
*Awareness of relevant technical/product/industry skills & knowledge.
*A background within a C#, .Net Framework, SQL Server environment.
*A computing discipline to HND (merit or distinction) or equivalent
