Senior 3rd Line Support Engineer required by market leading, financial services organisation based in Newport. The Senior 3rd Line Support Engineer will be a senior part of a highly skilled team in a very busy environment providing; On-going maintenance and development of the Data Centers and the associated core infrastructure and networks. You will be last line of escalation for complex escalated problems, new customer builds/installs and large projects.

The successful Senior 3rd Line Support Engineer will be required to provide 3rd line support within the Infrastructure and Networks team, dealing primarily with Windows servers, VMware virtualisation technologies and other Microsoft applications.

There will be occasional travel to another site so a driving licence is required (10%).

The role demands a technically astute person, but with excellent customer facing skills. This role will require liaising with project stakeholders, senior members of the business, and maintaining relationships within the organisation.

Required attributes:
*Acting as a mentor to 1st and 2nd line support staff.
*A passion for IT, and working within a team.
*To act with confidence, enthusiasm and to apply a professional attitude to all aspects of the role.
*Ability to communicate with clients at a professional level, explaining technical issues to non-technical staff
*Working with the Technical Consultants and Project Managers to deliver solutions on time and in conjunction with client expectations
*Ensuring that SLA breaches are kept to a minimum by implementing measures and controls to ensure stability of systems
*To continuously drive efficiencies, utilising and implementing technology to increase productivity.
*Excellent documentation of systems and solutions
*Business requirement documentation
*Change, problem and capacity management
*Identify and report risks
*Maintain core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
*Maintain core applications including Exchange, SharePoint, SCCM, file servers
*Ensure key servers and services are proactively monitored with appropriate levels of alerting

Required knowledge and experience:

*Active Directory administration and configuration
*Windows Server & Desktop infrastructure
*Good understanding of Local Area Networking
*Good understanding of VMware stack.
*Microsoft Exchange administration & deployment
*Microsoft PowerShell
*Experience of ITIL processes
*Technical Project Management
*Full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use
*Technical problem solving

*NetApp / SAN experience
*Linux experience
*Shell scripting
*Nagios administration and configuration
*Microsoft SCCM
*Microsoft SharePoint
*Disaster Recovery
*VOIP
*VMware certification
*Microsoft certification
*ITIL Foundation or greater
