Our market leading client has an immediate requirement in their Central Support Payroll team to hire an Interim Payroll Manager on a 12 month Fixed term contract to, ideally, start asap.  You will take the lead on delivery of all payroll & payroll related month-end processes within the company, across the UK & Ireland, including all newly acquired companies together with management of a team, ensuring they are supported through upcoming significant change.  Reporting to the Head of Payroll, you will be expected to make decisions in respect of day-to-day payroll activity and the management of resources to deliver payroll services effectively & efficiently.

Your key responsibilities will include:   

  • Ensuring the delivery of UK & Ireland payroll, ensuring the accuracy of the payroll 
  • Ensuring that all PAYE/NI and payroll deduction payments are made to agreed deadlines
  • Ensuring that all pension contributions are balanced and reported within agreed deadlines
  • Overall responsibility for IR35/Off Payroll Working processing
  • Ensure payroll controls are completed each month
  • Monitoring of the reconciliation of all payroll control accounts  
  • Monitoring of Payroll Team monthly planning and process scheduling
  • Overall responsibility for delivery by the team of the P11D and PSA process
  • Acting as a point of escalation for branch queries 
  • Driving performance and managing change

 Skills and experience required:

  • CIPP qualified or have completed CIPP Level 3 (or similar) qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll positions with previous experience of managing a team
  • Experience of Group Personal Pension Schemes and Pension Salary Sacrifice
  • Ability to adapt to fast paced changing environment
  • A questioning mind, constantly looking for where improvements can be made
  • Experience of managing a team through organisational & system changes
  • Ability to drive performance
  • A strong team ethic with good people management skills
