DevOps Engineer required by market leading, award winning, financial services organisation. This is a fully remote role. The DevOps Engineer will provide automation, architectural and process solutions to improve the technical quality and increase effectiveness of our clients IT team and the company. This role is a quality champion, helping with quality assurance, release oversight across the IT teams: Development; Infrastructure; Testing and Database Administration, to facilitate the IT department working cohesively at a technical and logistical level.


  • Ensure appropriate, strategic software architecture design is in place, in collaboration with development, infrastructure, security, databases, testing and the business
  • In partnership with the development leads and DevOps Lead, create and maintain an architectural roadmap for development
  • Employ IaC (Infrastructure as Code) to automate architecture wherever possible. (via Terraform)
  • Introduce, monitor, and champion quality metrics within the department
  • Introduce procedures and automation to improve and measure quality,
  • Provide or design automation and tooling to provide and report on these metrics
  • Provide guidance on refactoring roadmaps for legacy software
  • Provide guidance, risk assessment and specifications for integrating new software
  • Provide information and training on new technologies, to improve the effectiveness of development
  • Build communication/services between applications and services
  • Review and/or provide automation scripting and integration for the deployment of infrastructure via Terraform, deployment of databases and copies of data, deployment of applications via CICD Pipelines in Azure DevOps, Anonymisation of testing data
  • Implement and maintain automated quality testing and reporting
  • Curate technical documentation
  • Create and maintain metrics and progress for the other areas (automated wherever possible)

Essential Skills:

  • Azure Cloud
  • Architectural experience of back-office applications and their design, including extension and expansion through integrations
  • Implementing Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform
  • Containerising applications using Docker and using orchestrators such as Kubernetes
  • A background in web application development, preferably with .NET, Web Services
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, topology and best practices, particularly with cloud vnets
  • Experience of source and version control tools, Azure DevOps
  • CICD using Azure DevOps Pipelines or a similar technology, ideally in YAML

Nice To Have:

  • Used to enhancing customer (B2C) and business (B2B) portals and APIs
  • Worked in an agile-based, delivery team
  • Experience gained from a development background to be able to share knowledge on best practices regarding software development
  • Experience of SQL Server database design and development would be an advantage

This fantastic role comes with a basic salary of £75,000-80,000 p/a and is accompanied with the following benefits: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, private medical insurance, discounts on gym membership plus many more.
