DevOps Engineer required by market leading financial services organisation based in Salisbury. (The role will initially be fully remote returning to the office Post Covid still with some remote working) The DevOps Engineer will join an experienced team responsible for providing automation, architectural and process solutions to improve the technical quality and increase effectiveness of IT team and the company

The DevOps Engineer will cover 6 main areas:

Architecture - Ensure designs an appropriate, strategic software architecture, in collaboration with development, infrastructure, security, databases, testing and the business (e.g. CRM integration; vet AI integration, etc.)

QA - Introduce, monitor and champion quality metrics within the department, e.g. unit test coverage, introduce procedures and automation to improve and measure quality, e.g. continuous integration & build

Interfaces - Design, test and where necessary implement, interfaces and APIs and provide guidance on best practice

Applications - Provide guidance on refactoring roadmaps for legacy software, provide guidance, risk assessment and specifications for integrating new software into the environment

DevOps Scripting & Configuration - Deployment of databases and copies of data, e.g. scripting to run and rollback database changes such as modifying tables, new records via Redgate Tools. Deployment of applications via CICD Pipelines in Azure DevOps

Documentation & Information Dissemination - Crate technical documentation. Create and maintain metrics and progress for the other areas (automated wherever possible). Assist with technical proposals

Essential background:

  • Architectural experience of back-office applications and their design, including extension and expansion through integrations
  • Application development background, in a .NET, Web Services SOA environment, using many of the following: Development & deployment of Azure, cloud-base applications, Single-sign on, plus integration with Windows Directory Services, C#, .Net Core, Visual Studio, SQL Server, T-SQL stored procedures, ASP.NET, MVC.
  • Experience of source & version control tools, Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of the design for secure and maintainable web sites and web service applications, in a SOA environment
  • Full development lifecycle experience, including implementation plans
  • Clearly understands and works to meet client needs; able to think strategically
  • Excellent communication skills; to operate with diplomacy, tact and empathy
  • Ability to liaise with and manage expectations
  • Well organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Worked in an agile-based, delivery team
  • Experience of UI frameworks, libraries and components, such as Angular
  • Background in the finance industry
  • Broad understanding of server and network technologies plus architectures
  • Experience of integrating web-based and transactional applications
  • Experience of SQL Server database design and development would be an advantage
